Secret Cinema Brings Hill Valley To Life In Amazing Screening Event

Looking for something to get that hard-to-shop-for sweetheart on your holiday list? Well if they’re a big fan of Back to the Future, we have the perfect recommendation for you. Track down the next Secret Cinema screening of the epic 80s film, and be the hero your sweetie knows you are.

Now, this isn’t the kind of screening you’re going to want to take just any old fan to. They might get distracted by the live performance of the show happening right beneath the screen or by the incredibly authentic looking actors who people the newly constructed Hill Valley. We’re thinking this is probably only the best gift ever for the fan who can quote Back to the Future extensively and who is always up for a good time. Secret Cinema’s creation is part theme park, part live performance, part movie screening, and this writer is kind of hoping this will inspire a new generation of Rocky Horror Picture Show fans to recreate Frank-N-Furter’s amazing mansion and knock the midnight showings into a new level of incredible.

We’re particularly impressed with Marty McFly and Doc Brown because there were some moments in the Hill Valley scenes in that video where we honestly did a double take or two and wondered. The town clock, the incredible screen, the girls in bobby socks and the jocks in letterman jackets had us itching to track down a streaming version of the movie for a little Sunday viewing too. We’re not going to lie, it may turn into a marathon of all three movies if we’re not careful.

Secret Cinema is a secret society of film buffs. They hold screenings each month in different locations around the world. While they may not all be as intense as this Back to the Future screening, each one is unique and incredible in its own way. We’ve signed up. We’re waiting for our secret invitation. We will report back on what find when we get to attend our first screening IRL. Until then, we’ll have to live with this lovely little video as our taste of movie magic.

I actually just wrote a big review on this during my #timetravelweek on my blog – http://retromash.com/2014/11/17/back-to-the-future-secret-cinema/  Personally I thought it was an awesome event and I’d love for them to do another night on Alien. I think they already have but I missed it! Or maybe Top Gun and hold it at an aircraft hanger.
