Sean Bean Totally Won Reddit AMAs for Forever

Well, Reddit’s AMA feature has finally been won, you guys. Sure, it was never a competition to begin with, but after Tuesday it’s clear the jig is up. After years and years of celebrities and random interesting folk telling the Internet to “ask me anything!”, one man has finally stepped forth and just flat-out killed it when it comes to answering said questions. And considering we just used the phrase “killed it,” it should come as no surprise to you that man in question is none other than Sean Bean.

Stepping onto the Internet to promote his new TNT series, Legends (you know, the one where he supposedly doesn’t die for once?), the Ned Stark of every Game of Thrones-loving heart — or Boromir for all you Lord of the Rings fanatics out there — showed a different side of himself during the AMA, and shared stories not only about his work on the aforementioned fantasy properties, but also some silly anecdotes. (You should be warned there are potential Game of Thrones spoilers here, folks.)

Like the time he almost died for real on a series he was filming: “The closest I came [to dying for real] is a horses’ hoof landed on my head,” Bean stated when fielding one of many questions about his tendency to die on screen. “And it did actually! When I was filming SHARPE. And I injured my neck, and I was pretty close, yeah. You can see it on film, yeah. It was a series called SHARPE, yeah. SHARPE’S JUSTICE, I think.”

But it wasn’t all gloom and doom — the actor had a lot of fun with his answers to questions, too. As he did when asked if he ever gets mixed up with that other Mr. Bean, Rowan Atkinson. “I used to get his fan mail, actually! I think they had the wrong address. I have gotten a couple of letters meant for Mr. Bean aka Rowan Atkinson. These letters would say things like ‘You’re so funny, you make me laugh, with your big rubbery face’ and I would say ‘you can’t mean me!’ Whenever I call people up and they say ‘who’s calling’ and I say ‘Mr. Bean’ and you can hear people giggling on the other end of the phone… he’s got a lot to answer for, that Rowan Atkinson.”

Another highlight was his retelling of the Nic Cageiest story we’ve ever heard about Nicolas Cage (and yes we realize that’s really saying something). When asked about working on the film National Treasure, Bean pulled out this little nugget of joy: “There was one where I went back to Nic Cage’s house, and we’d had a few drinks, we were playing pool and he accidentally knocked over his prehistoric cave bear skull and smashed it. And he was really upset about it, and the next day went and buried it in a field.”

The actor also nabbed a few laughs at the expense of poor Jon Snow and that potentially spoiler theory about his parentage he’s discussed at length of late. When asked “Why did you not teach Jon Snow anything?” the actor responded “HAHAHAHAH! Because he’s not mine! Little bastard!”

And, without this AMA, we’d never know just how much the man looooooves loves loves to talk about food. No seriously: he responded to more food-related questions than anything else and could barely make up his mind as to what his favorites were.

For that last bit you’re just going to have to go check out the whole thing in full (it’s worth it, truuuuust us).

He really has to come back to GoT in a cameo, right? I guess it depends on how book 6 eventually plays out but *SPOILER MAYBE* I’m guessing Jon in his current state will have a vision of talking to Ned in the crypts below Winterfell. The Bran scene mentioned in the previous article confirms nothing and is simply more circumstantial evidence that points to Jon Snow’s heritage.

While the scene isn’t in the book, in the show, the last words Ned says to Jon as Jon leaves for the wall and Ned to King’s Landing are “I’ll tell you about your mother the next time we meet. I promise.” I always took this as the show’s nod to Ned’s promise that is pivotal to all of this, as well as a foreshadow for how it will be revealed.

He claimed Boromir would take out Ned but I am not convinced.
