Have you been watching Scream Queens? Because I have, and despite how closely I pay attention each week, Â I still can’t figure out who the Red Devil Killers are. Although last week’s episode wasn’t the most exciting–until the last 15 minutes or so– we started to see some of the fallout from the episode in “Pumpkin Patch” this week.
For starters, the fact that a bunch of dead bodies turned up in the haunted house last week wasn’t good for anybody. In an attempt to keep the University’s students safe, Dean Munsch rounded up the Kappas and the Dicky Dollars to inform them that she Halloween was canceled. Despite Chad’s heartfelt plea to keep the “sluttiest day of the year” alive, the Dean refused to lift the curfew.
This annoyed the Chanels, who were planning to one-up Zayday’s haunted house fundraiser with an epic pumpkin patch. I mean, they already had some serious talent locked down and plans for an exact replica of the maze from The Shining, so it was totally unfair. With their plans cancelled, and emotions running high (because of Zayday’s plan to dethrone Chanel as Kappa President), Number 5 got in a fight with Chanel and later plotted against her with Hester and candle-obsessed Jennifer.
While I still stand by my comment that Denise Hempfield is one of the best characters in the show, Lea Michele is too good as Hester (a.k.a. Chanel No. 6). I mean look at the way she gets in Number 5’s face! She’s clearly twisted, which would make her a great option for one of the red devils. But, that may be way too obvious.
Back to the whole dead body thing. Chanel ended up getting arrested for the murder of the Kappas’ former maid, Ms. Bean. After she set bail, she pointed the finger of blame in Chanel No. 5’s direction and sent her to set up the pumpkin patch alone as punishment. Since she didn’t want to fly solo, 2 took her boyfriends Roger and Dodger along for protection. As expected, the Red Devil showed up and chased the trio through the maze (which looked amazing). After a weird relationship spat between the threesome, Number 2 ran off with Roger, leaving Dodger behind.
Meanwhile, Grace, Pete, Gigi, Wes, and Denise set out to find  the recently abducted Zayday. After using an app to track her phone, the group wound up at the killers’ weapon-filled lair. Though they didn’t end up finding her there, Gigi tazed the crap out of one of the red devils. Denise, as expected, used every opportunity to suggest that Zayday is the killer.
Though I thought Zayday could be one of the culprits, her decision to stab the killer with a fork because she “hates little bitches who kill her friends” proved otherwise. In any case, she ended up escaping the killer’s lair just in time to crash the secret Kappa President election Chanel was trying to hold.
In the last few minutes of the episode, we got another Gigi surprise. On top of being the black-cloaked hag, it looks like she’s also the big bad boss of the red devils. Also, based on the conversation she has with one of them at the end, we know for sure that the one she tazed is a guy. I have a sneaking suspicion that Earl Grey is one of them, and that Grace might be the other. I could be wrong, but Grace’s idea to track Zayday’s phone seemed way to convenient.
