Ever since its inception, Scream Factory has been a horror fan’s dream. An off shoot of Shout! Factory, Scream Factory brings more obscure genre titles to Blu-ray that might otherwise be overlooked by major studios. This morning, the final specs for the Blu-ray release of Werner Herzog’s horror classic Nosferatu the Vampyre were announced. The title will be released on May 20, 2014.

Nosferatu the Vampyre is Herzog’s take on the F.W. Murnau film and considered by many to be a new horror classic. As noted in the press release, Herzog’s interpretation of the story “eschews the popular conception of the vampire as confident and alluring, and instead focuses on the tragedy of the creature: doomed to immortality, weary, and disgusted at his own existence.” The film stars Klaus Kinski as Count Dracula, Isabelle Adjani and Bruno Ganz.

Bonus features include audio commentary with Herzog, a “The Making of Nosferatu” vintage featurette, reversible wrap (with the “white” theatrical poster design), theatrical trailers, and German and English cuts of the film.
