Scarlett Johansson Has Super Powers In The First Trailer For Luc Besson’s LUCY

It’s a funny thing about Luc Besson. Even though his name has been attatched to some of the most popular action franchises of the last decade – Transporter, Taken – it’s been a while since the man has directed anything in the genre. That changes this year, and today we get our first look at his latest effort, the Scarlett Johansson-starring Lucy:

While, yes, the movie does exist on the back of that long standing myth that humans only access 10% of their brains, this movie looks freaking awesome. In many ways, Lucy feels a lot like the highly underappreciated Limitless, except this film has an action/sci-fi element. Let’s be honest, though, if accessing 100% of your brain meant you could have the power to change your hair at any given moment and throw dudes into walls, wouldn’t you?

Also, this movie has Morgan Freeman, so that’s a win right there.

Lucy hits theaters August 8th.

  2. Gzoref says:

I honestly thought that 10% thing was dead and buried. What the hell?

  3. Kinh Luan says:

The best part of the show was the trailer. Lucky is a fantastic film for any type of movie viewer. She’s pretty hot stuf

  4. Denise says:

The movie looked great, but they lost me the second they used that same old tired BS about 10% of our brain. I just threw my hands up right there in the theater. And when they asked what will happen when she gets to 100%, I couldn’t stop myself from saying, “then she’ll be like every other human on Earth!” My husband thought I was losing my mind.

    • Ken says:

You must only hang out with the intelligent people.  There are a lot of people who only use 10%. They are the ones who watch reality tv and see themselves in it.

  5. lisa says:

What is the name of the song in the middle of the trailer?

  6. Ted says:

    The myth is 10%

We use 100% of our brain, but we only use 10 -15% of the brain at any given time is the old myth which i’m sure it has been debunked as well.

  7. Walter says:

Didn’t Neil Degrasse Tyson debunk that 10% brain nonsense on the Podcast?

  8. Harry Demetrious says:

Looks nice. I liked Limitless, and this new movie look’s like it’ll help with future job interviews.

  9. jdge439 says:

Looks fun, probably better than into darkness. Had to watch on youtube since I cant DL I time at work

  10. It kinda reminds me of the scene in Akira when Tetsuo discovers his powers.
The 10% of your brain thingy bums me out. Most people know that that is a myth, if only Luc had done a little bit of homework before making this movie. Everytime someone mentions the 10% brain thing during the movie, I am going to have to shut down 1% of my brain. Hopeful I won’t achieve brain death before the end credits.

  11. Herege says:

I would prefer she make Pro.

  12. Courtney says:

So is this based on a book? I’ll be looking into that, because if it is I want to read it before the movie comes out! Looks awesome!

    • tlm says:

i read a book back in 2008-2009 that i picked up in the airport that reads very close but i have failed to find it again.

  13. NYCrex says:

Looks good. I’m guessing the name was inspired by the Leakey “first human” moniker.
