This week we’re taking our final trip to Pawnee as Parks and Recreation begins its farewell season. Saying goodbye can be bittersweet but at as Ron Swanson once said, “There has never been a sadness that can’t be cured by breakfast food.”
A luscious mix of savory and sweet, there’s no more satisfying meal than breakfast. So it’s fitting that we pay an homage to the citizens of Pawnee with a double tribute: a Li’l Sebastian shaped breakfast stack. Treat Yo Self to sizzling sausage, savory scrambled egg, and a crisp weave of bacon, all bookended by two pieces of French Toast.
Maybe someday we’ll saddle up again, and I know I’ll always miss my horsiest friend. Spread your wings and fly… â«Â Goodbye, Pawnee. We miss you already.
Li’l Sebastian French Toast
(serves 1)
ingredients:
– 2 slices wheat bread
– 1 egg
– 3 Tablespoons heavy cream
– 2 teaspoons sugar
– 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
– pinch of salt
– 2 Tablespoons butter
In a shallow bowl whisk together the egg, heavy cream, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and salt.
Melt butter in a pan over medium high heat.
Dip the bread into the egg mixture, covering both sides. Lay into the hot pan and cook evenly until browned on both sides.
Cut out the toast with a horse cookie cutter and stacked up with sausage, eggs and bacon.
To make a bacon weave, lay one slice of bacon down, then lay a second piece perpendicular. Repeat layering process until weave is complete. Cook in a hot skillet.
Really came to say it should be waffles and not french toast but I see others already had that covered. Well done, citizens, carry on.
Should totally be waffles instead of toasts
Totally waffles.
