San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H Panels Will Be Streamed Online

As anyone lucky enough to attend San Diego Comic-Con can attest, it’s extremely difficult to get into Hall H, the room where the largest movie and TV panels are held every year. But now, you don’t have to wait in line for hours and hours to see some of the highlights of Comic-Con, because Comic-Con HQ will be streaming Hall H panels online.

And the announcement is coming only a month after Comic-Con International announced Comic-Con HQ, a new streaming service run by Comic-Con and Lionsgate that will officially launch in June. In a new interview with /Film, Comic-Con HQ app General Manager Seth Laderman said, “We’re going to be working with every single studio, every single panel host to be able to take the content and put it on our platform. We’re not going to be live streaming anything because we really don’t want to take away that experience of people who are the first to see and be there for it, but we can put things up shortly after.”

The lack of a live-streaming option is disappointing, but this is a huge step up from watching the panels on a recording from someone’s cell phone or tablet on YouTube. Previously, Comic-Con has offered streaming panels to locations outside of the San Diego Convention Center that featured remote video from the panels without the trailers or footage provided by the studios. It’s unclear if Comic-Con HQ would also cut out the studio provided footage, but considering that the trailers are often quickly put up online by the studios themselves, it probably won’t be a huge issue for fans watching.
