Remember that period in the mid-’90s (this was post-Pulp Fiction) when indie films became obsessed with quirky hired killers with hearts of gold? From films like Grosse Pointe Blank to lesser-known fare like The Immortals or Montana, you couldn’t swing a silenced AR-40 without hitting a smaller film featuring a killer in a black on black suit brushing up against civilians and realizing how messed up their chosen profession is.
Chronicle writer Max Landis seems to be tapping into that with his script for Mr. Right, which has just picked up actors Anna Kendrick and Sam Rockwell as its leads.
Kendrick plays an unlucky in love type who meets the seemingly perfect man played by Rockwell, only to discover that he’s a former hired killer. The film would follow their burgeoning romance as Rockwell’s past comes back to haunt him, probably accompanied by gun play.
Neon Flesh and Tokarev director Paco Cabezas will be behind the camera, with shooting set to begin this fall.

Ism’t this basically the same plot as that Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl movie from a few years ago?
