The battle of Crait in The Last Jedi is one of the most gorgeous sequences in Star Wars history, but one small moment from the planet definitely stands out as strange. Apparently because the audience needed a way to know that the white surface wasn’t snow but salt, one Resistance soldier decided it was a good idea to find out what they were stranding on by eating the ground from an unknown world. But you know the old saying about how when life gives you lemons you make lemonade? Well, a super fun fan film has the perfect answer for what to do when the galaxy far, far away gives you salt.
The YouTube channel vamp shared this short silly video recreating that brief moment, but with some younger actors who find a much better use for the salt of Crait than any of the adults in the movie did. The best way to win a war is to be prepared for anything.
That’s one way to help deal with the First Order (and the miserable winter we’ve been experiencing in the U.S.). And while we’re not saying writer and director Rian Johnson now feels like this was a major missed opportunity, but he did give this video is own stamp of approval.

Maybe when he makes his new Star Wars trilogy he can introduce a planet with a river of tequila. Because it’s important to remember that old lesson: when life gives you salt, make margaritas.
Did you find it weird when that soldier ate the salt? Would you have done that? Tell us why in the comments below.
