Safely Catch Spiders With This Ingenious Device

No one likes a spider crawling around their house, but unless you’re the designated, ruthless spider assassin of your home (like I am), you are probably terrified of them, have a crisis of conscience about killing them, or both. Well we have good news for all of you morally superior arachnophobes, because you no longer need to call your significant other to come running home from work any time you see a creepy crawler scurrying in your bath tub, not with this safe, compassionate, spider trapping device.

Catcher-spider
You can see this spider catcher, affectionately called “My Critter Catcher,” in action in the video above from Insider. It is the invention of Tony Allen (of Ireland, not the Memphis Grizzlies) whose spider-fearing son was the inspiration behind its creation. Using bristled head traps, spiders are ensnared, but not crushed, with a simple squeeze of the handle, which allows you to gently release them back into the wild (after a stern lecture about how the outside is their home….what, I’m the only one that tries to reason with bugs?).

You can purchase one for yourself for just $16.95, and it actually works for any small insect. As the son of a mother who reacts to a spider the same way a teenage camp counselor responds to Jason Voorhees, I’ll be picking one up for her.

Plus, we don’t know when spiders will become radioactive, but when they do we will all be glad we showed them mercy.

Would you use one of these on any bugs that found their way into your home? Or do you believe in the swift, merciless justice of a shoe? Crawl into our comments section to tell us your thoughts.
