After five long years and several false starts, it looks to all be officially official-like now: Ryan Reynolds will indeed return to the part of the “Merc with the Mouth”, Wade Wilson, in the big screen version of Deadpool, directed by Tim Miller from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick; in addition, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg are producing. Reynolds hinted at his return to the role of Deadpool via his Twitter account earlier, saying “Uh… It’s Chimichanga Time”. This will likely be an all-new take on the origin of Deadpool, since X-Men: Days of Future Past pretty much erased the events of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Filming is set to being in March for a February 2016 release date.
The road to a Deadpool movie has been a long and strange one. Apparently, the only reason that Ryan Reynolds took the cameo role of Deadpool for X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009 was because there was the implied promise of a future Deadpool spin-off. But then that movie so botched the character in almost every respect, and the overall reception to that movie and X-Men: The Last Stand was so underwhelming, that the entire X-Men franchise was suddenly on shaky ground, till X-Men: First Class and The Wolverine helped bring it back to good standing with fans and critics.
During all this time, director Tim Miller was trying to get Deadpool up and running again as a film, but Fox had cold feet about greenlighting an R-Rated superhero movie, especially one related to the X-Men franchise, which is more or less family friendly, despite all the Wolverine skewerings that happen. Add to that, since 2009, when Reynolds first played Wade Wilson, his box office stock has plummeted, with a string of misses like RIPD, The Change Up, and most notably, Green Lantern. All of these factors made it seem like the Deadpool movie starring Reynolds might never happen, but the overwhelming positive fan reaction to the Proof-of-Concept trailer that leaked after Comic-Con changed things, and Fox finally decided to pull the trigger. Rumor has it the movie is now PG-13, but we won’t know for sure till 2016 rolls around.

if it’s going to be pg13, they might as well not make the movie. all it will be is another botched deadpool. deadpool isn’t meant for kids, so it shouldn’t be rated that way.
Wait… Wait… X-men… “Family Friendly”?? Fox… Walk into any Comic Book store in the US and say that to one of the employees! They will laugh in your face!
What is the point of making a Deadpool movie if all you’re going to do is kill the identifying features of the character? A pg-13 Deadpool movie is not a Deadpool movie; it’s fan rape.
