We’re used to seeing a movie star’s face just about everywhere and anywhere before their big budget blockbuster gets released, especially when that face belongs to Ryan Reynolds. But Reynolds went an interesting route with this latest promotion for Deadpool 2, making a surprise appearance on a South Korean singing show while dressed from head to toe as a unicorn.
Reynolds appeared on King of Masked Singer as “Unicorn,” draped in a glittery mask and matching cloak. He sang a very sweet, very sincere rendition of “Tomorrow” from Annie. The judges, hosts, and audiences were all taken in by the performance, but they seemed to have a sense something was up about the whole thing, even if they probably didn’t predict that it would turn out to be one of America’s biggest movie stars.
If you thought the audience was funny during his performance, that’s absolutely nothing compared to how they freaked out after they learned it was actually a huge movie star on stage. This might be the happiest any human beings have ever been.
We know Deadpool wears a mask, and normally we would not encourage studios to promote a Ryan Reynolds movie by hiding his face, but this was clearly a perfect promotional appearance.
This entire crowd is DEFINITELY seeing Deadpool 2 now.
