In Marvelâs comic book universe, there was a long-running gag of Deadpool addressing the X-Men as if he was already a member of the team. Inevitably, one of the real X-Men would remind Deadpool that he is neither an X-Man nor a mutant. Live-action movie Deadpool appears to have found a loophole by bringing the X-Men together before theyâre old enough to realize the truth!
On Halloween, Reynolds shared a picture of himself dressed as Deadpool while posing with six kids who were wearing suspiciously great X-Men costumes. Even the text of that tweet was a perfect poke at the timeline changing events of X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Dear Fox, stop changing the timelines. It's confusing the audience. #xmenassemble #happyhalloween pic.twitter.com/XkhejBLRWS

It turns out that Reynoldsâ Halloween excursion was part of the latest push for the Deadpool movie. Reynolds’ posted the new Deadpool promo video on his Twitter account, where he dubbed the video “Deadpool’s school for not so gifted youngsters.” And while it may be quite a while before Deadpool appears alongside the team in Foxâs X-Men movieverse, it is undeniably fun to see Reynolds in character as he tries to whip his new recruits into a fighting force that can make him proud. There are also some not-so subtle jabs at Reynoldsâ roles in Green Lantern and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
The Deadpool movie will be released in theaters on February 12, 2016. Nerdist senior editor Dan Casey just got back from the Deadpool set, and you can read his report here!
