Rupert Grint to Star in Comic Book-Inspired Pilot for NBC

Since 2001, Rupert Grint has been known as Ron Weasley, the loyal best friend and sidekick to Harry Potter. Now it will be his turn to have the fate of the world fall on his shoulders in a new pilot for NBC.

The untitled program has Grint starring as Rupert, a typical New York City cubicle worker. Like many people of his generation, Rupert is obsessed with comic books, specifically the one created by his father, Imperial City. Thinking the series only ran nine issues, Rupert is surprised when a mysterious comic collector informs him that a tenth issue exists. Rupert’s search for this tenth issue leads to the revelation that Imperial City is REAL, and Rupert is the only person that can save it.

Grint will serve as a producer for the series, with Ugly Betty creator Silvio Harta and Life in Pieces and Secrets & Lies producer Aaron Kaplan serving as executive producers.

With his Harry Potter co-stars Daniel Radcliffe (Victor Frankenstein) and Emma Watson (Beauty and the Beast) involved with some big projects themselves, it’s only fitting that the third member of the team get a leading role as well. The combination of comic books and actor from one of my favorite franchises already has me ready to check it out.

So what do you think? Are you ready for Rupert Grint to take the lead hero role? Do you think HE’LL have a fun-loving sidekick for once? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
