If you release an all-cat-noise remix of your critically acclaimed album, you should be exempt from having to put out new songs for a whiiiiile. But instead of taking a well deserved catnap (heh), Run The Jewels have a new banger out called “Rubble Kings Theme (Dynamite)”.
Currently available to download for free from Adult Swim’s Singles Series site, the track was recorded as part of the soundtrack to the Rubble Kings documentary that will be getting a physical release on October 30. Check out the song, as well as its artwork, below.
The Rubble Kings documentary, for which the song is named, has been around for a few years now, but is only now gaining more recognition and an actual physical copy release. The film uses archival footage and first-person accounts to tell the story of the street gangs that ruled the streets of New York City in the late ’60s/early ’70s, and how their decision to pull back from gang wars fueled the beginning of hip-hop music. Anyone who is a fan of hip-hop or wants to see what inspired the cult classic film The Warriors should definitely check out this film. Hell, with acts like Run The Jewels doing the soundtrack, you know it has to be good.
