Rumor: Spider-Man is Coming To AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR PART 1

For the last few months, we’ve been tracking what’s become a rather insanity-filled story concerning everyone’s favorite NYC based webslinger, Spider-Man. When last we checked in, it seemed the franchise was in a strange place at Sony Pictures, as it was in the middle of a massive re-structuring after a potential deal with Marvel fell through over the summer… but then things got interesting.

Because of those leaked emails, top brass at Sony Japan were suddenly unhappy with the loss of a potential deal with Marvel and, according to various reports, pushed for Sony Pictures to go back to the negotiating table with the Disney-owned company to get the deal back in place. Since then, things have been quiet, and we’ve all come to assume that nothing ended up happening and Spidey is back to where we left him at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. However, silence isn’t always a bad thing as, interestingly, it seems things have worked out.

According to Latino-Review, who released a new column today that includes a ton of spoilery Phase 2 and Phase 3 news for the MCU and heroes like Thor, Captain America, and Black Panther, a deal has been struck between Marvel and Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU in, wait for it, Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, not Captain America: Civil War as many originally believed.

Without going into all the spoilery details, the inclusion of Spider-Man relates to a potential new lineup for the Avengers team that will be occurring throughout phase 3 (which is something we’ve already suspected given all the new characters that are going to be introduced in the new series of films). We don’t want to potentially spoil the next several years of superhero cinema, but the short version is, if Latino-Review is to be believed, Spider-Man is coming to the MCU, and he’s coming to it in May 2018.

Would you like to see Spider-Man in the MCU? If so, who should play him? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. Darcus says:

One I would love to see spider-man in the avengers as for who should play him I think it should be some right off the streets, a complete unknown because spider-man is not “The Guy” just the average guy that got spider powers.

  2. Drew says:

    #Donald4spiderman2018

  3. Rob says:

Would love to see Spidey in the MCU, but it has to be Civil War because of his essential roll in that story line of the comics

  4. Shventastic says:

    Donald Glover should play spiderman!

  5. Nich Hustler says:

I’d be okay with Andrew remaining as Spider-Man. I don’t hate him, I feel like he’s been a good Spider-Man in less that stellar Spider-Man movies. I think with Marvel’s direction he could be a great Spider-Man. It doesnt mean that some terrible interpretations of characters become canon, but that doesn’t seem insurmountable.

That said, I’d also be happy with them changing him, I think I just prefer the idea of a Spider-Man that comes with some history.

  6. PP says:

    Hell yeah!

  7. Daniel says:

Andrew was perfection Just make him make the jump to Marve, because is like to replace huge Jackman as Wolverine! Gobe spidey a chance there os already 2 rebooter of Spiderman fan are tired keep the dame actor and with Marvel direction i am dawm sûre Andrew Will portray a even better performance ! Truly from a Marcel and spidey fan

  8. guille says:

Yes! And 4 hour avengers movies plz

  9. chris says:

It just doesn’t make sense, where has he been all this time? he hasn’t been mentioned and he is a HUGE part of Civil War so to omit him from that and just plop him down in Infinty War is just plain stupid.

    • Brandon says:

He’s a big part of Civil War IN THE COMICS. The movies are different. Also, I suspect the Avengers movie will track with real-world time, so there’s plenty of time for Spider-Man to get his powers and become an active hero between “Avengers” and “Infinity War 1”

  10. Rey Estupendo says:

Oh, and according to Latino Review, the bad guy in the next Star Wars movie is Emperor Palpatine.  We’ll see how that pans out.

  11. Rey Estupendo says:

Latino Review’s record on “exclusives” isn’t that great.  According to their exclusives:
The lineup of Suicide Squad will be Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Vixen, Jaculi, Blockbuster, Mulitplex, and Mindboggler (Deadshot was a given, and that’s a lot of nope in there).  Christian Bale will be Batman in the Justice League film.
Zac Efron is going to be Marvel’s next big franchise star, probably Daredevil (nope) or Dr. Strange (nope), because *obviously* Marvel is going to cast Efron, since “Neighbors” outperformed “Amazing Spider-Man” on opening weekend.  Also, Marvel wants Johnny Depp for Dr. Strange.  Also, Marvel wants Joseph Gordon Levitt for Dr. Strange.Marvel certainly doesn’t want Benedict Cumberbatch for Dr. Strange.Donal Logue was offered the role of Commissioner Gordon on Gotham (which they later admitted was just a guess based on hearing that he was offered a role on the show).Jason Momoa is playing Drax in Guardians.
Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler are being considered for Guardians, possibly as Rocket and Groot. The next solo hero movie for Marvel after Cap 2 will be Black Panther. They have gotten some exclusives right, but the pattern here is that, taken as a whole, it all looks like guesswork.  When they guess right, they get credit for being on top of things.  When they guess wrong, it gets forgotten.  You might as well ask a spirit medium for entertainment news.

  12. jaris says:

The same guy who plays spiderman now

  13. Kyle says:

Donald Glover as Spider-Man, how has no one said it?

  14. Kenny says:

And my guess would be that, as per usual, Latino Review is full of shit.

  15. LAB says:

    Yes!   So…. thank you…North Korea?

  16. Elle says:

Mixed feelings about this, because I am actually a fan of Andrew Garfield as Spider Man

  17. MisterUnderhill says:

Make it a family affair and casting Liam Hemsworth as Spidey? I doubt Thor and Peter Parker would be sharing the screen much anyway.

  18. Jeremiah says:

Latino Review is really, really spot on about his stuff. If he’s comfortable publishing it, I believe it.

  19. Shad says:

I’m just curious as to what makes latino review an authority on marvel…  This isn’t the first time you’ve referred to them..

  20. Cameron S says:

    Pictures or it didn’t happen!
