Is it just me or is Rose Byrne the coolest? I don’t think there is much that the Australian actress can’t do. From going toe-to-toe with Glenn Close on Damages or out-crazying Russell Brand in Get Him to the Greek to stealing the show in Bridesmaids and Neighbors to literally anything else she’s in, Byrne has proven she’s got the chops and, I would imagine, a very long and diverse career ahead of her. In addition to her work in front of the camera, Byrne has teamed with four other creators–Gracie Otto, Shannon Murphy, Krew Boylan and Jessica Carrera–to form their own production company called the Dollhouse Collective.
Gracie Otto revealed that, at the end of the day, the formation of the production company was simply a formalization of their passion for storytelling. She told Screen Daily, âThe core aim is to develop theatre, film and television together and tell stories with a strong female presence. This formalizes what we are already doing. Sitting around the dinner table we have always been sounding boards for each other.â The company already has three features in development including Girls in Hotels, which Otto describes as, “a mystery, a puzzle film, that unravels through time zones and hotels.”
The women who make up the Dollhouse Collective all have some form of entertainment experience, including backgrounds in opera, experience working in front of the camera, and directors. The women are also spread across the globe, living in New York and Australia, and looking to collaborate with women all over the world with all different experience levels. Get it, ladies!
