ROOSTER TEETH to Launch 2 New Sci-Fi Series: CRUNCH TIME and DAY 5 (Exclusive)

Fans of Rooster Teeth, get excited, because our feathered friends are bringing not one but TWO brand spankin’ new sci-fi series (a comedy and a drama, natch) to your subscribing eyeballs this September, we can exclusively reveal. They’re called Crunch Time and Day 5 and we already know you’re going to love them. You can even check out the trailer for Crunch Time right here, right now, only on Nerdist! Oh, what a time to be alive!

Crunch Time is touted as “an edgy half-hour comedy series from the creative team of Andrew Disney and Bradley Jackson (Balls Out).” The show follows “a group of grad students who use big science for petty purposes. After recklessly handling cutting-edge tech in their school lab, this brilliant team of jackasses create a small—but potentially world-ending—black hole that grabs the attention of government operatives.”

Chaos ensues, because of course it does, when the budding scientists try to pinpoint where their experiment went wrong, forcing them to team up with a secret government agency in order to save the day. But how? Simple: by detailing EVERY single illegal thing they’ve ever done in the lab thus far.

Crunch Time will premiere sometime in September 2016, and will be an exclusive to Rooster Teeth Sponsors. Written by Disney (who also directed) and Jackson, Crunch Time features Nick Rutherford (Good Neighbor, Balls Out) as Berkman, Jessy Hodges (Hindsight) as Hannah, Avery Monsen (High Maintenance, Maron) as Sam, Samm Levine (Freaks and Geeks, Inglourious Basterds) as Connor, Kirk Johnson (Lazer Team, Balls Out) as Larry, Brent Morin (Undateable) as Agent Hobbs, Michael Hyatt (Nightcrawler, The Wire) as Agent Mullins, and Jade Catta-Preta (Manhattan Love Story, Girl Code) as Victoria Wain.

But what about Day 5, you ask? Well, my friends, here’s the lowdown on the network’s first-ever drama series: it’s about what happens to the world when sleep becomes fatal. (Phew—guess that means everyone at Nerdist would survive!) After half the world winds up dead in bed due to this circadian catastrophe, the remaining (and very sleepy) survivors—including an overnight nurse, a former meth addict, a red-eye pilot, and an insomniac—must join forces to find a way to never sleep again.

The cast that includes: Jessee C. Boyd (The Choice, The Wanderers) as former meth addict Jake, Walker Satterwhite (My All American) as Sam, Davi Jay (Walking Dead, True Detective) as Ellis, Stephanie Drapeau (The Catch, Finding Carter) as Ally, Lee Eddy (Red vs Blue) as Alexis, Aaron Spivey-Sorrells (Lazer Team, American Crime) as Cain, Garrett Graham (The Divergent Series: Allegiant, American Crime) as Dave, Joel Heyman (Red vs Blue, RWBY) as Bill, and Jessica Schwartz (American Crime) as Nicole. It was written by Josh Flanagan, Chris Demarais, Aaron Marquis, and Mark Bristol.
