Ron Perlman Spoils Some of Guillermo del Toro’s HELLBOY 3 Plans

Hellboy star Ron Perlman has taken it upon himself to keep the hope of Hellboy 3 alive by constantly talking about it in the media. Perlman has previously stated that he feels “obligated” to finish the story laid out by director Guillermo del Toro in the first two Hellboy movies. Now, Perlman is escalating his PR push by spoiling some of del Toro’s plans for the third Hellboy film!

“Guillermo told me what the resolve of the trilogy would look like, in broad strokes, and it’s such an amazingly theatrical, cinematic idea, that I found it essential that we do it,” said Perlman while making an appearance on Empire Magazine’s podcast. “Holy s—, he’s the beast of the Apocalypse. He has to take down civilization. He has to. It’s non-negotiable. That’s the foundation for the story, and that’s why I think it would be a shame if we don’t do it.”

At the end of Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, del Toro made a major departure from Mike Mignola’s Hellboy comic by revealing that the title character and his girlfriend, Liz Sherman (Selma Blair), were expecting twins. In the comics, Hellboy and Liz never even had a romance! During the Empire podcast, Perlman also spoiled del Toro’s plans for the twins. Keep in mind, Hellboy 3 may never happen. But if it does, consider this your major SPOILER WARNING before finishing the article!

“One would look like the mum and one would look like the dad,” related Perlman. “And one of them was going to be completely f**king corrupt, the other one angelic. Which one was which? Only Guillermo would make the f**ked-up-looking one be the angel. So then that adds to the saga.”

There are currently no studios willing to finance Hellboy 3…but there should be! We love that character and his movies.

Hellboy fans, what do you think about del Toro’s plans for Hellboy’s children in the potential third movie? Unleash your opinions in the comment section below!
