Romantic Nerd Creates Custom Computer Game to Propose to Girlfriend

When you decide to you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you need to ask them if they’d like to do the same. Some people propose over candlelit dinners, or at a place special to the both of them. For one man, those were too passe. Why simply ask when you could turn your proposal into a customized computer game that your loved one has to complete?

Austin Piech and Lauren Woodrick had been dating for a few years when he decided he wanted to to be with her for the rest of his life, so he got to work on a one-of-a-kind way to ask. She knew he was programming a new computer game for a couple of weeks, but she did not know that it was a playable proposal, with the levels based on some of the bigger moments from their time as a couple. Obviously, the first level was their first date.

Austin recorded the entire event, but said the camera work was so bad because he was shaking. Lest you fear that he made it easy though, don’t worry; like a true gamer, he said the levels were still challenging. Only a nerd would find it romantic to potentially drown your girlfriend’s avatar while proposing to the real one.

The final level consisted of mariachis playing the song that played when his grandfather proposed to his grandmother, and then the screen went black and said, “It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this!” It was then that Austin took the engagement ring that had been hiding behind the computer the whole time. A tearful Lauren said yes; the game became a success.
