With Force Awakens behind us, it’s time to gear up for the first of the “spin-off” movies from a Galaxy Far, Far, Away. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story chronicles the band of Rebels responsible for securing the plans for the first Death Star. Little else is known about the film, but the Nuremberg Toy Fair may have given us insight into one of the Original Trilogy characters that may be appearing and/or somehow connected to the crew. The picture teases upcoming LEGO sets from the classic line as well as Star Wars: Rebels. But the biggest surprise comes when you look at the picture labeled Rogue One:Â that’s Slave I, Boba Fett’s ship! When you think about it, there are very few unique ships in the Star Wars universe. Other than your T.I.E. Fighters and Wing-class Rebellion fighters, the only other ships are the Millenium Falcon and Slave I. Which means the chances we will see/hear more about the popular bounty hunter are pretty good.
So if he’s in the movie, what role will he play? Will he be paid by the Empire to stop the Rebels? Will he help them in their quest? Remember, he’s a bounty hunterâhis moral compass doesn’t exactly point in the same direction all the time. Does he have a link to any of the other characters? We’ve already discussed Mads Mikkelson’s possible character name of Galen, and how he could be the father of Felicity Jones‘ character. Given the fact that Boba’s ship has been passed down in his family for generations, the possibility that he is her father could make for the perfect connection between Rogue One and the larger Star Wars universe.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, also starring Diego Luna and directed by Gareth Edwards, opens in theaters December 16th, 2016.
So what do you think? Are you excited for the possibility of more Boba Fett? Who would win in a fight? Boba Fett or TR-8R? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
