Rocksteady Talks Dual Play and More in Batman: Arkham Insider #1

With a little over a month to go before the game’s June 23 release date, Rocksteady has released the first entry in the weekly Batman: Arkham Knight community video series. The debut episode of Arkham Insider, which you can view above, dives into the title’s latest trailer “All Who Follow You” and discusses dual play and some of the game’s narrative elements.

Joining the series’ host in the video are Rocksteady’s Martin Lancaster (Lead Scriptwriter) and Adam Vincent (Senior Animator). While we already got a close look at dual play in the trailer last week, the trio break down some of the finer details of how it works in the video. With the new feature, you’ll be able to seamlessly switch between Batman, Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman to take down a group of foes.

Things like starting a beat down on a thug with one character, and then switching to another to serve the final blow will be possible now, opening up numerous opportunities in the Arkham series’ already fantastic “Free Flow” combat system. It also allows the developers to blend the narrative and gameplay in new and interesting ways. For more on what they discussed, check out the video at the top of the page.

Nine minutes into the video, they answer several fan questions. Among the answers they gave, they revealed that skins will be available from the beginning of the game and won’t need to be unlocked. They also noted that there won’t be any loading screens in the game, even when entering the interior of a building from outside. It sounds like it is going to be a seamless experience all around!

As for what future episodes will feature, Rocksteady community manager Liam Ashley stated, “Over the course of the series, we’ll be showing you a whole lot more. You’ll hear directly from talented developers across the studio and more about the features they’ve been working on and how they come together to deliver the ultimate ‘Be The Batman’ experience.”

We can’t wait.
