Rocko Comes to 2017 in the ROCKO’S MODERN LIFE Movie Trailer

With all of Nickelodeon‘s reboots of our favorite ’90s cartoons, sometimes it feels like we’ve woken up in a different decade. But that is quite literally what happens to the gang from Rocko’s Modern Life in the first trailer for their all new movie.

Today Nick debuted the first footage from Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling during a panel for the beloved animated series at San Diego Comic-Con. On hand were the original voice actors Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko), Tom Kenny (Heffer), Doug Lawrence (Filbert), and Charlie Adler (Mr. Big Head and Mrs. Big Head), as well as series creator Joe Murray and the new movie’s director Cosmo Segurson.

They discussed the show’s past and future, but the highlight was this first look at the movie, where Rocko finds out that the 21st century is a little too fast paced for his liking. And also his safety.

Hey we’re going to need that pizza taco ASAP.

But while we’re hungry to go back to this cartoon world, poor Rocko isn’t, because while everyone seems to be enjoying the world of technology and energy drinks, he’s struggling to make sense of it all.

“Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling brings the characters back to Earth after being lost in outer space since 1996. Rocko has trouble accepting this 21st century modern life, while Heffer and Filburt embrace every aspect of new technology, social media and the endless diversity of food trucks. Rocko whole-heartedly believes that his nostalgia for the past can save him from the tortures of the modern world.”

The more things change, the more they stay the same. But we can’t blame Rocko, we wish it were still the ’90s too.

Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling comes to Nickelodeon in 2018.
