Rob Zombie Wants to Give You Nightmares

If you live in Southern California or if you’re planning to visit in the month of October, you need to plan a stop at Rob Zombie’s Great American Nightmare. The musician and filmmaker is hosting a Halloween-themed “music and horror event” every Thursday through Sunday from October 10 until November 2nd at Fairplex, renamed FEARPlex for the occasion, in Pomona.

What is a “music and horror event” and why should you go to this? Great question! The horror aspect takes the traditional haunted maze concept and turns everything up to a million percent scary (scientific term). Zombie has teamed up with haunted house producer Steve Kopelman to create insanely detailed, utterly horrifying attractions based on Rob Zombie films, including Lords of Salem Total Black Out, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto 3D, and Haunt of 1,000 Corpses. Each of these haunted houses will use the original films as a jumping off point for some truly terrifying scares.

They’ve also constructed The Great American Nightmare’s Bloody Boulevard, a large outdoor area that will have a DJ, food, wine, spirits (the drinks…and also maybe the spooky kind too), and beer, all while projecting classic horror films on a large outdoor screen. Don’t think you’ll be able to enjoy a peaceful meal and a quiet time at the movies, as freak show characters will be free-roaming through the event; stay on your toes.

Some people just don’t want to get scared, and a few are all but unscarable. But Zombie wants to appeal to a broad audience, so he’s added a music aspect to the evening, and the lineup includes a little something for almost any rock fan (with two personal favorites headlining Sunday the 27th), and a close-out performance by Rob Zombie in the (decaying) flesh on Saturday November 2nd!
