ROADIES’ Luke Wilson and Carla Gugino on What Goes on Behind The Scenes at Concerts

Have you ever heard “Load Out” by Jackson Browne? There is a line that goes, “Roll them cases out and lift them amps / Haul them trusses and get ’em up the ramps,” and it has always made Luke Wilson wonder what really goes on behind the scenes at concerts.

In Cameron Crowe‘s new Showtime series, Roadies, Wilson and costar Carla Gugino explore exactly that unseen village of people that travel with your favorite band to ensure every concert goes off smoothly and without a hitch. From security to setting up folding chairs, to sound check, these are the people that most musicians would not be able to exist, or at least tour, without.

With this in mind, Nerdist was lucky enough to sit down with the stars of Crowe’s latest to discuss what it was like to work on a show by a huge figure in the music world, and how it affected their consideration of all the elements that go into producing a live show. Additionally, we chatted about music nostalgia, and which songs remind Wilson and Gugino of being parts of this project. And of course, we asked them the age old question: Beatles or Rolling Stones?

Did they agree? Did they discover something about one another that would tear them apart forever? Well, we guess you will just have to watch above and find out for yourself.

Roadies premieres on Showtime on June 26.
