What do Justin Bieber, Olivia Pope, and Spider-Man all have in common? Well, nothing yet. But if the cast of Riverdale gets their way, that might all change.
The CW has become known for it’s series crossovers. First, The Vampire Diaries and spinoff series The Originals hosted some inter-show romantic relationships and revenge-filled trips between Mystics Falls and New Orleans. Then, Greg Berlanti’s DC Comics universe raised the bar even higher with the regular tradition of crossovers among Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. So why can’t The CW’s newest hit drama Riverdale get in on the crossover action too?
The Archie Comics series also comes from crossover-loving super-producer Berlanti, so it’s not like the idea would be so far out of his wheelhouse. Not only that, but Archie Andrews and company have contended with no shortage of out-there crossover storylines over  their years in print–some of the craziest examples of which include Marvel Comics antihero The Punisher, the cast of the TV show Glee, Predator, the band KISS, George Takei, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, among many more.
Riverdale has already been renewed for season two (best. news. ever.), so even if the show didn’t manage to fit in any cool crossovers in the first season, there’s still a chance we could see one or two next year. Maybe they could even take some inspiration from the cast members’ ideas! When Nerdist paid a visit to the Riverdale set in Vancouver, we asked the new generation of Archie (KJ Apa), Jughead (Cole Sprouse), Veronica (Camila Mendes), and the rest to reveal their wildest and craziest crossover wish list. From superheroes to pop singers to other iconic teen drama characters, their answers didn’t disappoint.
“Crossovers are cool because obviously with the Berlanti company, there’s a lot of opportunity for that,” Luke Perry, who plays Archie’s dad Fred Andrews, said. “I was just thinking the other day of how we can do some crossover stuff with that because that would be a lot of fun.”
Sprouse was all for the idea of introducing Archie Comics character Sabrina the Teenage Witch, especially since she was a friend of Jughead’s in the original material. But could she go full magic in the real-world setting of Riverdale? And speaking of magic, Madelaine Petsch, who plays mean girl Cheryl Blossom, wants another famous wizard on the series… two, if you count Justin Bieber. Apa, Perry, and Mendes also weighed in on their top choices, while Ashleigh Murray, who plays Riverdale’s most talented singer Josie, told us the one crossover she would not stand for. Watch the video above to hear the cast’s ideas!
