One of the titles I most regret not getting my hands on during E3 was The Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation. The first-person survival horror game is set between two of my favorite films – Alien and Aliens – and its mix of puzzles and a single enemy could serve as a nice antidote to the more action-focused Alien game released over the years.
Apparently, some of my press colleagues out there who got some time with Alien: Isolation found a lot to like, according to the new “E3 Accolades” trailer, which also gives us some narration from heroine Amanda Ripley (daughter of series heroine Ellen).
From the official synopsis:
“Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alienâ¢, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance.
As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien.
Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.”
SEGA and The Creative Assembly have been getting out there saying Isolation will offer an approximately 10-hour gameplay experience. Now I’m really curious how they’ll be able to sustain tension for that long with only one enemy.
Alien Isolation is coming to the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on October 7.
