Ringo Starr’s Interesting POWERPUFF GIRLS Tribute

There are times when you watch something and thoroughly enjoy it, only to ask yourself “What the fuck did I just watch?” moments later. This is exactly the way I felt after viewing Ringo Starr’s music video tribute that celebrates the return of the Powerpuff Girls later this month.

TV Guide gave us a first look at Starr’s comeback video, and there are very few ways of explaining it beyond the phrase “satisfyingly creepy.” As it seems, our pal Ringo aspires to become a part of another super group post-Beatles, titling his song “I Wish I Was A Powerpuff Girl.” It’s a very light-hearted tune, completely unexpected, and I could have totally received it the wrong way. But I was definitely quite perplexed upon the video’s conclusion, which is exactly what makes it exponentially brilliant.

Wasn’t that a great song and video? Well, whether you enjoyed it or not, the fact remains that The Powerpuff Girls are returning on January 20th to the Cartoon Network, Ringo Star at bat and ready to score.

I wish makers of cartoons wouldn’t teach kids incorrect grammar.
