Ridley Scott Promises ALIEN: COVENANT Will Have Classic ALIENS

While Prometheus shared a universe with 20th Century Fox’s Aliens franchise, it was pretty light on actual Xenomorphs until the end of the movie. Earlier this year, Prometheus 2 morphed into Alien: Covenant, and according to director Ridley Scott, all of the classic forms of the Xenomorph will be back!

“We’ll have them all,” said Scott in a recent interview. “Egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy.” Scott went on to share a few story details about Alien: Covenant, which are probably not that surprising if you’ve actually seen Prometheus. But if you don’t want to be spoiled, you should stop reading now!

“They’re going to go to the planet where the engineers came from, and come across the evolving creature that they had made,” related Scott. “Why did they make it? Why would they make such a terrifying beast? It felt bio-mechanoid, it felt like a weapon. And so the movie will explain that, and reintroduce the alien back into it.”

Thanks to Fox, we already have a short synopsis for Alien: Covenant that offers some additional hints about the story.

“It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

Of course, that description raises an important question: what happened to Elizabeth Shaw? Noomi Rapace is slated to reprise her role as Shaw in Alien: Covenant, and she was last seen blasting off into space on an Engineer spaceship with David’s remains.

Alien: Covenant will land in theaters on October 6, 2017.
