Ride Like the Chief: NECA Previews a HALO-inspired Motorcycle Helmet

I’m sure whatever skull/shark face/giant eyeball or whatever that you have on your motorcycle helmet is cool and all, but are you riding around looking like The Master Chief? No?

Pop culture toys and accessories maker NECA will have you covered (literally) in 2015, with the planned release of their Halo Master Chief Motorcycle Helmet, revealed in the sculpt trailer below. The big question: which version of the Master Chief is it being based on? The character has gone through some subtle redesigns across games (and notably, when 343 Industries took over the franchise from Bungie) and Halo fans can be a picky (and fickle) lot.

The street-legal helmet – revealed last week on the NECA site – follows Microsoft’s announcement of Halo: The Master Chief Collection during E3. That release – collecting the four Halo console games (excluding Reach and ODST) – will serve, after a fashion, as a precursor to next year’s Halo 5: Guardians.

This isn’t NECA’s first foray into the Halo-verse: earlier this year, the company detailed an 18-inch scale figure based on the Master Chief, based on the character’s original digital model.

From the preview page:

“With Microsoft’s exciting announcement for Halo: The Master Chief Collection coming to Xbox One this Fall, it’s the perfect time to reveal a surprise of our own! Our Master Chief Motorcycle Helmet is still a work in progress, but we’re excited to share the video and images below with you.

Whether you’re on a Honda dirt bike, a custom Harley or a vintage Vespa, the Halo Master Chief Motorcycle Helmet will offer the full-face protection preferred by Master Chief (and savvy bikers everywhere). A.I. not included.”
