RICK AND MORTY Goes Full MAD MAX for Season 3 Ep 2

Ahhhhh!!! Can you even believe Rick and Morty season three is finally here? After a crazy dropping of the first episode on April 1, we’re finally getting the rest of them beginning Sunday, July 30. It’s well and truly happening. A great many people got to see the second episode, “Rickmancing the Stone,” at Comic-Con over the weekend (our own Kyle Hill saw it and wrote about it here) and it looks really great. It’s a Mad Max riff in which Rick, Morty, and Summer go to a post-apocalyptic, car-obsessed desert wasteland, and Adult Swim dropped a first look for the episode here!

I’m simultaneously impressed and in no way surprised that the design team on Rick and Morty would take the time to create all those individual BSDM-geared punkers that populate the background of the Thunderdome sequence and are piled onto various spiky vehicles. The one guy with a gas mask attached to his crotch is so beyond weird that of course it exists in this show.

As if this weren’t enough, however, Adult Swim has also released a video that goes inside that crazy revelation/fake-out that ended the season’s first episode, “The Rickshank Rickdepmption,” which had us all thinking that our Rick was turned to evil-doing by the loss of his wife…but that was all a ruse! Creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, along with writers Ryan Ridley and Mike McMahan, explain the logistics of a Rick plan that detailed, and that incept-y.

If you missed it last week, Roiland, Harmon, and co-star Chris Parnell joined our own Jessica Chobot to discuss all things Ricardo and Mortimer.

How excited are you for Rick and Morty season three? If your answer is anything less than “The Most Excited a Person Could Be,” then I seriously doubt your commitment to the Sparkle Motion known as fun. But either way, let us know in the comments below!
