A few months ago, a YouTuber decided to sit down and take the time to cut together the first season of Rick and Morty in order to match Eminem’s hit song “Rap God.” It was done so that it would appear that Rick was rapping to Eminem’s track, and was put together quite well.
Now, another YouTuber named MrMcWilli has decided to cut together bits and pieces of Rick and Morty to go along with Kendrick Lamar’s “King Kunta.” The big difference this time, though, is the video has all of Rick’s dialogue edited together to create the lyrics to the song, instead of lip syncing it to the existing track. That’s right, Rick Sanchez actually raps his own version of “King Kunta”:Â “Rick Kunta.”
The issue with trying to recreate the song out of pieces of Rick’s dialogue is that there are points where it gets quite difficult to understand what’s being said. This does not mean the video isn’t enjoyable, but a listen to Lamar’s original song may be helpful. This is especially true in order to catch the changes where Rick puts his own personal touch on the song.
While the Eminem video felt mind-blowing at the time, I think combing through the entirety of the first season to find each time the character has used a certain word is just wild. Bravo, MrMcWilli. I applaud the time and effort that has been put into this video. Wubbalubbadubdub!
