RICK AND MORTY New Episode Teased in Live Stream Announcement

The wait for the third season of Rick and Morty has been long and agonizing, and while waiting for new episodes to materialize (aside from the surprise new episode on April Fools Day season three premiere), fans have been pulling their hair out, worrying about the future of the show and coming up with terrifying theories as to why it’s taking so long.

But it turns out that it might not take much longer. Out of the blue, it was just announced that a Rick and Morty live stream event is going down at 9 p.m. EST on June 29, although details are scarce. Still, it seems like something worthwhile will be happening, based on a press release that ends on a promising note: “Don’t miss it. Or be late. Trust us.” The vagueness of the whole thing sure does make it seem like we’re getting a new Rick and Morty episode on Thursday.

That feels especially right in light of a recent tweetstorm from Harmon, which he called “A hungover thread where I address Rick and Morty devotees because I feel bad for any fan worrying about any show-threatening issue.” As he’s said before, the reason the third season is taking a long time is because they’re spending a lot of time on writing, because they feel an obligation to deliver a stellar third season:

“Justin and I are very regretful about the season taking way too long. I want to explain ‘what happened’ because it’s way less dramatic than you might ever imagine. post internet TV audiences are so used to finding out there’s an intriguing/confusing/intense reason 4 delays and Christ knows if you’ve ever seen MY name on the internet I’ve only got myself to blame for an association with intrigue/confusion/drama, but the truth in this case is so very boring.

The reason S3 took long is because it took long to write. Because it was S3 of a show that we were scared to make worse than S2 or S1. But don’t worry about the content, because the reason overthought slows you down is you just do way more versions of stuff than needed. You usually end up back where you started. So as far as I can tell, although I’m too close to it, it’s just another good season of RAM.”

Harmon’s guilt plus the sudden nature of this live stream seems like it can only mean something good, so tune in then, and let us know in the comments if you think this could possibly be anything else besides a new episode.
