Put down the portal gun and the booze, kids, and get ready for over six minutes of fun. Over on YouTube, a user named Benjamin Roberts has taken a slew of footage from the darkly hilarious animated series Rick and Morty and synced it up with the recent hit from Eminem, “Rap God.” Even if you don’t like the song or the show, and I’d especially be surprised if the latter is true, you can at least marvel at the fact that this video took Roberts one hundred hours of work to sync up properly. However you slice that up, it’s still a lot of time dedicated to a video strictly for the love of the concept. That’s more than two full work weeks, and the effort really shows. If you’re anything like me, you will wait with anticipation to see him match Rick up to the “super sonic speed” bit in the middle of the song.
The song doesn’t hold any significance to the show itself…as far as I know…which isn’t far. I haven’t seen much of it, sadly. It seems, like many young video editors on this here internet, Roberts decided to find a way to combine his craft with things he loved and share it with the rest of the world. I must admit, the sync between the video and audio is quite impressive.
So, if Rick is Eminem, then who would be his Morty? Leave your choice in the comments below, or send it over to me on Twitter, @MattDelhauer, with #EminemsMorty in the tweet.
