RICK AND MORTY Creator Has a New Animated Show About Aliens Coming to Hulu

Earlier this year, Adult Swim ordered 70 more episode of Rick and Morty, so you’d think Justin Roiland (the show’s co-creator and voice of its two main characters) would already have his fill of interplanetary animated responsibilities. But Roiland is going to be pulling double duty, as it’s just been announced he’s going to be bringing an all-new cartoon to Hulu… and it’s concept won’t be entirely alien to his fans.

According to Deadline, Hulu has ordered two seasons amassing 16 episodes in total of Roiland’s new animated series Solar Opposites, which follows a family of aliens who are forced to take refuge from their advanced planet in Middle America, where they aren’t sure if they are dramatically better or worse off. Roiland’s co-creator on the series is Mike McMahon, who is also an executive producer on Rick and Morty.

Just like he does with his current hit series, Roiland will also voice multiple characters on the show. He will play “Terry” and “Korvo,” with young Sean Giambrone (The Goldbergs) as “Yumyulack,” and Mary Mack voicing “Jesse.”

Who’s who in the family isn’t known yet, and there’s no concept art available for the show, but writing on the series is expected to begin in October; the show is set to premiere in 2020. And if you’re worried if Solar Opposites will pull Roiland’s attention away from Rick and Morty, just remember that 70 more episodes or not, they take forever to make a new season.
