Report: CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 Already In The Works

Captain America: The Winter Soldier doesn’t even come out for another few months, but Marvel Studios is so happy with what they’ve got, it seems they may be already getting their ducks in a row for Captain America 3. According to a report in Variety, Anthony and Joe Russo will be back in the director’s chair for a third installment, even though it hasn’t yet been officially greenlit. As usual, Marvel and Russo’s reps had no comment. Once again, Kevin Feige would produce with Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers.

Apparently, any serious negotiations wouldn’t begin until after The Winter Soldier comes out in April, but sources tell Variety that Marvel has been so impressed with how smoothly the production went and what they’ve seen of the movie, not to mention good results from recent test screenings, that the studio has moved fast to attach the brothers to return for a second go-round. A writer and release date are still pending for a third Cap movie, but sources say Marvel and the Russos are already putting together an outline of what the third film’s story arc would look like. Of course, this is all dependent on  The Winter Soldier performing well at the box office, but at this point in time, it seems nothing can beat the Marvel Studios juggernaut, especially those franchises tied to The Avengers.  Marvel has three open dates over the next few years to which they’ve apparently staked a claim: May 6th, 2016 (against Superman Vs. Batman? Good luck, Cap!) as well as July 8th, 2016 and May 5th, 2017. Expect Captain America 3 to open on one of those dates.

So which Cap storyline should be adapted next? Chime in below.

The civil war storyline would be good if marvel can make it work. I think they should nip the crap with fox and do a marvel one shot on one of cap wolverine team ups from ww2. We don’t know everything that happened in between that first prison break to when cap went in the ice. Do we? Captain America reborn was real good as well.

  2. Rich Johnson says:

Must whole heartedly agree with Jonathan. Steve’s acclamation to the modern era, coupled with a deep moral sense of right and wrong (in opposition to his nationalism in Winter Soldier? ) would be a good incendiary motivation toward the Reality TV opening of Civil War. Glimpses to an expansive universe would need focus in Cap 3 and Iron Man 4. Flashbacks to other adventures in his original time period would provide great juxtaposition, though it may be impossible with the time line expressed in Captain America: The First Avenger.

  3. Hovitos says:

NOMAD! Just Kidding. USAgent! Just kidding. Cap teams with Deathlok! Totally serious.

  4. T. Perran Mitchell says:

    Cap-Wolf!

Seriously though the Quest for the Bloodstone storyline from the mid-90’s would make a fun Indiana Jones by way of captain America movie. they could swap out diamondback for black widow.

  5. Billy says:

    Scourge of the Underworld

  6. Jonathan says:

Set up Iron Man 4 and Captain America 3 as a lead-in to Avengers 3: Civil War.
