Remember Throg with This Statue from Sideshow Collectibles

The mantle of Thor will soon be taken over by a woman, but it’s good to remember that Thor wasn’t always a man. Once upon a time, he was a frog, and on a different occasion, a frog shared in some of the God of Thunder’s powers. The latter is Throg, and he shouldn’t be confused with the character Thor Frog who appeared in issues #363 – #366 by Walt Simonson. That was when Loki turned Thor into a frog as part of a plot to keep Thor from the throne of Asgard.

No, Throg is Simon Walterson (a reference to Walt Simonson). He was once a college athlete, but he was turned into a frog by a curse and became known as Puddlegulp. After some encounters with a frog version of Thor, Puddlegulp lifted a sliver of Mjolnir and he transformed into Throg. He got the entire God of Thunder outfit and became a frog superhero; he eventually joined the Pet Avengers. Don’t you just love comics?

Sideshow Collectibles has captured Throg in a six inch statue and diorama. He’s wearing the full Thor costume and holding his miniature Mjolnir. It’s known as Frogjolnir. Seriously. The statue is cute and highly detailed. It was designed by Kris Anka and Viggiano Studio, sculpted by Pablo Viggiano, and painted by Mireya Romo-Bowen. Throg is available for pre-order and priced at $99.99.

  2. Oh I totally would. Unfortunately, I don’t have $99 (plus tax and etc.) to throw away on it. So sad. Love that Throg.
