Since 1997, the Disney Channel Original Movie series has put out a few lighthearted made-for-TV films every year, and believe it or not, there are now 100 of these campy, childhood-defining masterpieces. It’s easy to forget how many classics there are in the franchise, from Under Wraps to High School Musical to Halloweentown to The Even Stevens Movie to Luck of the Irish to The Cheetah Girls to… there are a lot.
In honor of these films, Oh My Disney has put together a tribute video, showing one-second clips of all 100 movies set to iconic music from the titles. What’s often forgotten his how successful the alumni of these movies have been: Stars like Shia LaBoeuf, Zendaya, Lindsay Lohan, Frankie Muniz, Demi Lovato, Taran Killam, Zac Efron, Selena Gomez, and others all appeared in at least one DCOM early on in their careers, before going on to bigger and better things.
Another thing this tribute makes clear is how broad a range these movies inhabited. DCOMs brought younger us (and the youths of today) tales of leprechauns, snowboarders, smart houses, mummies, mascots, space travelers, superheroes, dancers, witches, wrestlers, and all sorts of diverse characters that captured the imaginations of children all over.
Well, we lied: There are only 99 released DCOMs at the moment, but this montage was made in honor of the upcoming 100th, Adventures in Babysitting, which premieres (where else) on Disney Channel, tonight at 8 p.m. So feel free to tune in and bring a sense of closure to your DCOM experience.
