Rejoice, Clone Club! ORPHAN BLACK Season 3 is Happening

Calling all our sestras! The time to throw a dance party of your very own is now because BBC America has just renewed Orphan Black for season three. That means another 10 episodes of Tatiana Maslany out-acting every other actor on television. Huzzah! Hooray! Woopie! Etc!

During this week’s Television Critics Association panels, BBC America announced the news to a room of hungry-for-more types who’ve led the way in championing the clone-based conspiracy thriller. This is particularly great news considering all of the — spoiler alert! spoiler alert! spoiler alert! (get it?) — majorly game-changing things that occurred during the season two finale.

The most shocking of all being, of course, the introduction of Ari Millen (remember the creepy Prolethean Mark?) as a male clone. The Castor to Sarah Manning & Co’s Leda. (Now would be a good time to brush up on all your Greek mythology, folks.) So it looks as though, in the very least, we’ll get to meet his many other sides. But we also have to know what happened to Rachel — is she dead now or simply a pirate? Argghhhhhh everybody loves a bad pencil in the eye joke, right? — as well as the fate of poor, dear, Cosima who’s on the brink of death. And what about Helena?! She’s currently in captivity at the hands of the U.S. government and Paul is apparently doing some double agent work… again. And that’s to say nothing of the briefly introduced Tony and brand spankin’ new baby clone, 8-year-old Charlotte.

Production for season three begins in September, so we’ve likely still a bit of a wait to go. But still! More Orphan Black, you guys! What’s not to like about this?!

So, obviously we’re pretty, pretty excited about this. What about you, Clone Clubbers? Let’s all freak out about it in the comments.

Why are the seasons so damn short? ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!

    • Seriously! The only reason I kept U-verse this year was to watch Orphan Black and Maron. Now, I’m down to Maron. WTF?

    • maya says:

so that you won’t get bored.i have always said us based TV shows have too long of a season. for some shows it worked (like ER or The West wing that had big and diverse enough casts to make it work) but in the last few years it just doesn’t work – or maybe i just started to lose my patience because TV shows seems to become more stupid as the year go by. i rather have a short 10-15 episodes season and not have too much filler boring episodes that add nothing, than have well filler boring episodes.
for example one of the reason Dr. who and sherlock are hitting so big is because they are short and to the point. i just started watching OB and i love it that i don’t have to sit through boring filler episodes that will add nothing to the show.

  10. SunKrux says:

OMGFLAILSQUEE!! So happy & excited! I watch with my 14 year-old niece. We LOVE the show!

  11. Tina says:

Yeah!!!!!  Wait…September….so how long do I have to wait to see what is going to happen?  That last episode had me so excited for more!  I DID NOT SEE that coming!  That is why this show is so good, you can’t predict what they will do!
