This popped up on our Sunday morning news feed (thanks Deadline.com), and we thought it would make for a perfect weekend discussion.
Fan site The Quentin Tarantino Archives has gotten the MAN HIMSELF to list his top ten films of the year. This is a huge win for fan sites everywhere, and will only solidify the awesomeness of Tarantino in the minds of his biggest fans.
As for the list, it is as varied as it is surprising. A couple of the items listed (we’re keeping our opinion to ourselves, Tonto) certainly would not have made it onto our top ten. Others, like Kick Ass 2 make more sense, given (as Deadline correctly points out) Tarantino’s love of Grindhouse-level violence. That film was, of course, condemned by the film’s star Jim Carrey as too violent in the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings.
The inclusion of The Conjuring also makes sense, given the writer/director’s admitted appreciation for horror, and brings to mind a Tarantino-helmed horror film, although the closest we’ll ever get is probably From Dusk Till Dawn, as it seems his interests lie in historical fiction these days.

I was glad to se Blue Jasmine on the list.I think it is on of Woody’s best.For those of you who have not seen it,it is one of his best dramas.The acting is first rate and should deserve oscars-at least for best actress and I hope best picture and director.

I think Tarantino would be one of those ppl who were bigger fans of the source material when it came to ´Pacific Rim’.
Like I’ve said before, it’s a shame more ppl aren’t familiar with the many different shows (anime mostly) & movies that inspired that movie.
It might not be a very Tarantino-esque movie but my personal favorite movie of the year was The Way Way Back.
I don’t really mind the lack of Pacific Rim. I liked it a lot when I saw it, but Gravity clearly blew it out of the water in terms of IMAX 3D spectacle, which was really the main thing PR had going for it.
Tarantino’s list is usually a bit more compelling. I’m surprised by the lack of World’s End and Pac Rim over some of these choices.

I saw an advance screening of The Lone Ranger, and I didn’t think it was terrible. It was a little confused at times, like it didn’t know what type of movie it wanted to be, but it was fun. Would I have gone to see it if I had to pay for it, probably not, but I certainly don’t regret seeing it.
I get The Lone Ranger. It must have had something in it that he’ll be able to pluck out and put in a good film. I love most his stuff, but don’t care to watch a lot of it’s source material.
This is the End is a new all time favorite, I liked Kick Ass 2 better than the original, and I was surprised at how good The Conjuring was compared to Insidious.
I’m surprised to see The Lone Ranger on there.
