Earlier today, Remedy Entertainment and Microsoft revealed that Quantum Break —  previously an Xbox One Exclusive — will also be coming to PC on April 5. Alongside the reveal, the company dropped a new live-action trailer (above) and the Windows 10 system requirements, which are as follows:

It’s certainly been a long road for Remedy Entertainment’s Quantum Break. The title was initially teased during the Xbox One reveal event back in 2013 and was originally slated to launch back in 2014. However, because of development delays, the game’s release was pushed to 2015, and then later pushed to the April 5, 2016 date it has now. Amidst those unfortunate announcements, it was also revealed that the game would be getting a cool live-action series (from the villain’s perspective) co-produced by Lifeboat Productions and Microsoft.

But, the one factor that remained constant was the Xbox One exclusivity. Losing it so close to launch is odd. To make the situation even weirder, the developer also revealed that folks who pre-order the digital version of Quantum Break for Xbox One by April 4th, 2016, would also receive the Windows 10 version of the game completely free of charge — regardless of which retailer they pre-ordered with. Though there is no cross-play functionality, the game will support shared saves between versions.

Additionally, the developer also listed the following pre-order details:

• Every Xbox One copy of Quantum Break will come with a full-game download for Alan Wake for Xbox 360, plus its two add-on packs, The Signal and The Writer, playable on Xbox One via Backward Compatibility.
• Every Xbox One Quantum Break pre-order made through the Xbox Store or participating retailers will get you a download code for the Windows 10 version of Quantum Break and Xbox One backwards compatible version of Alan Wake’s American Nightmare.
• You can also get Quantum Break branded SteelBook cover for your copy of the game by pre-ordering Quantum Break from participating retailers.*
• A new Xbox One Special Edition Quantum Break Bundle featuring a 500GB Cirrus White console and matching wireless controller, a full-game downloads of Quantum Break for both Xbox One and Windows 10, and a full-game download of Alan Wake accompanied by The Signal and The Writer add-on packs is offered worldwide starting March 29^th, 2016 in most regions where Xbox One is available.

Unsurprisingly, the PC announcement already has Xbox fanboys in a tizzy. I won’t go into detail, but most of the complaints center around having the exclusive wrongfully ripped away from them. But, I think the important thing to remember here is that this means more fans will get a chance to enjoy the game.

I for one am also pretty excited about Alan Wake joining the ever-growing list of backwards compatible games. It’s certainly nice to see the company fleshing out the BC game’s catalogue. With Microsoft’s recent slip-up (you know, the one where they accidentally made Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption available on the Xbox One) it looks like we’ll be receiving even more great titles down the pipeline.
