Noomi Rapace Will Be in ALIEN: COVENANT After All

After some reports to the contrary earlier this year, it seems as though Noomi Rapace will be reviving her Prometheus character for director Ridley Scott‘s upcoming sequel Alien: Covenant. During a January interview with The Daily Mail, director Ridley Scott was reportedly asked if Rapace would reprise her role in Alien: Covenant, and his reply was a succinct “no,” adding only that they were “still casting the main roles.” Needless to say, this was a very surprising development, and raised all sorts of questions about what happened to Shaw, and whether she and David ever found the homeworld of the Engineers.

Now, Deadline reports that Rapace will indeed be returning to the role of archaeologist Elizabeth Shaw, who narrowly survived the events of Prometheus before embarking on an even more ambitious mission to the Engineers’ homeworld with android David (Michael Fassbender). Considering that Shaw played an unintentional role in the origins of the alien Xenomorphs, it will be fitting to see her face the monsters that she spawned.

The previously released synopsis for Alien: Covenant hinted that Shaw’s fate was unknown. “Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world—whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

Katherine Waterston  Daniels, the lead character of Alien: Covenant. Daniels is believed to be a member of the Covenant crew that encounters David. Alien: Covenant is also said to be set ten years after the events of Prometheus.
