Preview: NARCOPOLIS: CONTINUUM #1 Shows a Bleak Future (Exclusive)

Following up on their second season of Hoax Hunters, Heavy Metal is publishing a four-issue comic book miniseries entitled Narcopolis: Continuum. The comic series is tied in directly to the U.K. sci-fi film Narcopolis, which envisions a near-future society in which all drugs have become legalized. However, a new breed of police officer is still tasked with hunting down and ferreting out those who produce them illegally. Narcopolis: Continuum takes place in that same universe, but our story follows a man named Ben, a genius inventor who creates an incredible drug that transports him through time and space. Except this isn’t just any trip — Ben is on the trail of his father, who disappeared some twenty years prior. However, as with all time travel stories, the search for answers can often create even more pressing and harrowing questions than the ones we started with.

Here is the official synopsis:

In the near distant future, genius inventor Ben creates the ultimate drug. No ordinary narcotic, its effects will take Ben on a trip through time in an attempt to uncover the truth behind his father’s disappearance twenty years ago. In searching for answers, the past reveals its secrets that the young scientist won’t accept, even if it means risking everything he’s worked for. Based on the UK sci-fi thriller starring Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons), Elodie Yung (Marvel’s Daredevil), James Callis (Battlestar Galactica), and Jonathan Pryce (Brazil), Narcopolis: Continuum explores new corners of the world introduced in the movie.
