On this, the five year anniversary of the release of Suzanne Collins’s Mockingjay–the final book in The Hunger Games trilogy–President Snow has fallen. Sort of. Fans unlocked a new image from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 today by visiting a website with a map of The Capitol over 11 million times in an hour. Yes, apparently Hunger Games fans are rabid for any and all tidbits about the upcoming film. The dramatic banner features Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) standing victoriously upon a toppled statue of President Snow. The message: the rebels don’t care about the elaborate traps Snow and the Gamemakers have set throughout The Capitol. They’re taking the city by force. The symbolism is overt, sure, but it doesn’t make the image any less impactful.

Besides Katniss, the “Fallen Snow” banner shows the group of rebels sent into The Capitol of Panem. They’ve left the relative safety (emphasis on the word relative) of District 13 to take the fight to President Snow’s doorstep and eliminate him. He isn’t the kind of enemy you risk leaving alive. The most recent trailer for Mockingjay – Part 2 illustrates his power:
Triumphing over Snow won’t be easy, but if Panem unites, it is possible for them to make a better world. Taking down a statue is just the first step.
Mockingjay – Part 2 will be in theaters on November 20. Are you ready to join the revolution? Scroll to the comments below and let me know your thoughts on the new banner.
