Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies Vol. II Announced

Are you a gamer who has trouble sleeping? If you found comfort listening to last year’s famous Game Music for Sleep album, rejoice, because Scarlet Moon Records has just announced that a sequel to the critically acclaimed compilation will be released on LOUDR and other digital retailers on April 27, 2015.

Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies Volume II features beautiful lullaby versions of some of our favorite video game songs performed live by the group Gentle Love–which consists of saxophonist Norihiko Hibino (of Metal Gear Solid and Bayonetta) and pianist Ayaki. The duo formed back in 2011 after the great earthquake and Tsunami wreaked havoc in Japan, and have toured throughout their home country ever since to bring their unique therapeutic approach to those in need.

While the first Prescription for Sleep album featured lullaby versions of songs from the likes of Chrono Cross, Demon’s Souls and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, this album will feature tunes from The Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy and even the DuckTales (ah-ooo-ooo) franchise. According to the creators, the goal with this album was to experiment with songs that weren’t originally conducive to sleep and present it in a surprising, delightful way to fans.

On the Prescription for Sleep project becoming a a series, Scarlet Moon Records Producer Jayson Napolitano noted, “I knew right from the outset that I wanted Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies to be a series. I wanted to challenge GENTLE LOVE to produce an even dreamier experience this time with tracks that weren’t originally conducive to sleep, and I know fans of JRPGs and retro videogames in general are going to love the result.”

Anxious for the album’s release? Scarlet Moon Records urges fans to keep an eye on the official website for new information and track reveals. So far, they’ve released the tune “The Moon” from the original DuckTales game, and “The Streets of White Run” from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. To keep you calm until the official launch, here’s a sneak peek at “The Moon”.

Are you excited to listen to the rest of the tracks? What are some lullaby renditions you’d like to hear? Let us know in the comments below.
