Prepare Yourselves: Chevy Chase and COMMUNITY Have Reunited for Season 6

Miracles do happen, it seems, as Greendale is reuniting with its wealthiest, allegedly dead-iest alumni: Chevy Chase. Yes, Pierce Hawthorne will be appearing at least once during the sixth season of Community, the actor confirmed in his Reddit AmA on Monday.

When asked about his relationship with the series by a fan claiming the show had lost some of its luster in the wake of Hawthorne’s departure, Chase made the quip that not only had audiences not seen the last of their favorite cantankerous millionaire, but that the actor would be open to doing more of the former NBC-turned-Yahoo-Screen-baby, should creator Dan Harmon want him. “I will be in a small cameo at the beginning of Community and if they ask me to come back and do one or two appearances, it’s a possibility.”

It’s quite the turnaround from Chase’s departure during season five of the series, where he died. Yeah, that’s right: in “Basic Intergluteal Numismatics,” the audience learned that Pierce was no more, giving his shares (and wealth) away to Troy. So how could he return, eh? It *is* Community, so, y’know, anything could happen but it does give them an interesting challenge to overcome. Perhaps we’ll see Pierce’s grumpy, racist consciousness preserved in some sort of fancy computer/screen situation? Unless he faked his own death to get away from the group for awhile? The possibilities, particularly in the hands of the series’ creator, Harmon, are truly endless.

Are you happy to hear that Chevy Chase is making a cameo return to Community? Let’s hear your theories as to what that cameo might be in the comments.

Yes very happy to hear that Chevy will be reappearing (in any form) , and only hope it marks his return on a regular basis.

  2. frank says:

Chevy Chase hasn’t been funny (or relevant) since about 1983.  IMHO, he was the least enjoyable thing about Community.  Not to mention, he’s an arrogant d!ck, who thinks he’s way funnier than he actually is.  I was so glad to see him off the show.  Would hate to see him return.

  3. Garlonuss says:

I’d love to see a return of Pierce, as long as they write him well. And considering the times he faked a heart attack or his “breakdown” in the hospital, it wouldn’t be that big a stretch for it to turn out that he faked his death to see what people really thought of him.

Can I have Eddie Pepitone be a regular cast member, instead?

  5. ESP says:

Jeff: We’ve parted ways with our closest, oldest, craziest, most racist, oldest, elderly crazy friend. And he’s not coming back.

    Pierce: I’m back!

  6. This is so damn awesome!! Can’t wait to see how they re-introduce him. It’s gotta be something like he faked his own death for one reason or another….Maybe Troy helped him and was in on it, his silence being rewarded with Hawthorne’s riches, which he previously agreed to return what was left, should Hawthorne ever reappear. Or something…….

So… I read that AMA and I’m pretty sure he was confused and was referencing the 5th Season cameo he did. I’m not even sure he even knows that the 5th Season aired. I would advice double checking to make sure that this isn’t just a false rumor.

  8. RobbieGambino says:

Now all we need is Troy back and it will be a holiday miracle

    Yay!
