Vicky Speedboat‘s clip for “Passing Through Wales” is the kind of video you should avoid if you are an anxious parent to rowdy teenagers. Basically, if your kid is over the age of 15 and says something akin to, “I am going to sleep over at Sonny’s house,” that’s code for utter mayhem. Watch above and take notes.

After shotgunning several beers under an overpass, the Philadelphia based du0 spark up some Roman candles, shotgun more beers (They are based in Brewerytown Philadelphia, after all), light a skateboard on fire, and beat the living hell out of on old, chunky TV with a wooden baseball bat. It is a very simply shot music video for the tune (and really reminds me of No Age’s video for “Fever Dreaming”) that perfectly encapsulates how frenetically youthful “Passing Through Wales” is.

Sean Huber and William Lindsay channel all the major pop-punk and pre-emo forebears for “Passing Through Wales”, a song that recounts the utter mayhem of being 25 and not knowing what the hell you are doing with your life, and making your body suffer for it. It sounds like a vivacious, no-consequences party a la Andrew W.K., but in reality, the catchy, anthemic guitar riff belies how harrowing this track really is. This paradox between how “Passing Through Wales” sounds and what it means is crucial, and has me looking forward to the rest of the band’s new self-released EP, Two Years No Basement, which debuts on November 27.
