Premiere: Slow Magic Made a Song Completely out of Candy Noises

What a brave new world we live in: one where you can do anything you dream so long as you have a shitload of candy. This includes—but is not limited to—hosting the worst dinner party of all time, making adhesives that will probably melt if not kept at room temperature, and of course, making a banging, anthemic dance track. That is precisely what producer Slow Magic has done with his latest track, “Candy”.

As you can see in this video, Slow Magic sat down with a whole bunch of Mamba candy at a desk and then bashed, smashed, tore, and popped until he had all the percussive elements he needed to make the above banger. It is honestly insane—the dude connected a bunch of small chew candies to a programmable Makey Makey controller and turned the candies into a make shift beat pad. This begs the questions, what has your candy done for you lately?

About the process of making this jam, the beat magician said, “I had the idea of making a song using entirely candy samples and Mamba helped make it happen! The challenge was taking simple sounds like a tap or a wrapper tearing and turning it into something musical on the computer. This version of the song features half candy sound and the second half has full Slow Magic production. ♡

“Candy” is a sugar rush that rapidly gains momentum and than goes ballistic around the 1:30 mark. I didn’t drink coffee this morning, but this was the aural motivation I needed to rid myself of my early AM haze. Highly recommend checking out more of Slow Magic’s jams on his SoundCloud page. And be sure to catch him on his upcoming tour with Giraffage.
