Premiere: Julia Nunes is in Love Again on Her New Album, SOME FEELINGS

Julia Nunes has armed herself with a ukulele and emotions, the latter of which had previously been hidden but are now front and center on her new album, Some Feelings, which Nunes told us is “an album about going from numb to not.” The record comes out on September 25, but we’re more into instant gratification, so stream it below, ahead of its release and exclusively on Nerdist.

Last year, Nunes made the move from Brooklyn to Los Angeles, found love and wrote something like 80 songs along the way, which were boiled down to the 11 included on Some Feelings. Nunes previously said that the album “chronicles my realizations about how shitty I let my life get…There are songs about looking back in horror, and looking forward with hope. You also get to hear me fall in love again, which is dope.”

Nunes, having endured many highs and lows throughout her career as a DIY musician, is ready to move forward in her life again. A cathartic and expressive indie pop album, full of personal ruminations and occasional bright spots is a fine way of doing that. Some Feelings is currently available for pre-order on iTunes, and you’ll get an instant download of “Something Bad” for your trouble.
