Hey now fellas…what’s cooler than being cool? If you answered “ice cold” you’d be absolutely correct, but the more accurate answer these days would have been “Post Modern Jukebox’s cover songs.”

It’s almost gotten to a point where Scott Bradlee and his Post Modern Jukebox are putting out videos faster than we can obsess over them. I say almost because we here at Nerdist.com have honed our skills over the years and can obsess at levels far beyond those of mere mortals. It’s almost like the Hyperbolic Time Chamber in Dragon Ball Z; we are able to do far more obsessing in smaller amounts of time.

The “Vintage ’60s Soul” version of the song is fitting, as some might remember the video for the original was set up like a 60s television performance. OK, saying “some might remember” is just dishonest, we know everyone in the world remembers the video.

Joining PMJ again is the wonderful Sara Niemietz, who knocked their cover of Talking Heads’ “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)” out of the park. With “Hey Ya!” it’s clearly another testament to good song writing that proves a perhaps overplayed tune can be refreshing and new if only approached in a dynamic way. Our only wish is that this won’t be the last OutKast song they do and follow it up with “Roses.” Think they take requests?
